Technology Design Engineer
Location: Adelaide, SA
Contract: 12 Months, Full time
The Technology Design Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise technology solutions, overseeing the process from design through to delivery. This role also manages the internal pattern library, ensuring deployments are secure and adhere to the latest standards. The position aims to eliminate as much delivery friction and effort as possible by building scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions as well as data centre–based services.
What you'll be doing
- Design and implement cloud-native and hybrid cloud solutions that align with organisational performance, scalability, resilience, and security requirements.
- Oversee the lifecycle of cloud-native solutions, including provisioning, deployment, and retirement of platform components.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates and deployment patterns, utilising the latest methodologies and designs.
- Liaise with platform consumers to identify bottlenecks, optimise resource allocation, and enhance efficiency.
- Design and implement security and governance controls, incorporating best practices to safeguard cloud environments and facilitate self-service.
- Provide technical and subject matter expertise in cloud infrastructure and governance, DevOps, as well as DevSecOps.
- Collaborate with the Architecture team, external vendors, and partners to integrate emerging technologies and patterns that are beneficial to the business.
- Work with platform users and developers to design and implement cloud observability patterns to provide deep insights into critical systems, identify optimisations and bottlenecks, and establish proactive alerting and reporting mechanisms.
- Provision virtual machines, containers, or serverless functions on cloud platforms according to project requirements.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support relating to cloud infrastructure to maintain IT service level agreements and perform root cause analysis for issues encountered.
- Analyse monitoring data to identify performance bottlenecks, optimise resource allocation, and improve system efficiency.
- Engage with external vendors, monitoring and ensuring work is performed to required standards, timeframes, and completeness.
