We're partnering with an innovative global technology organisation seeking an experienced Systems Support Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving business-critical systems that support a highly available, enterprise-scale environment.

The Opportunity
As an System Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of both production infrastructure and internal IT services. You'll act as a trusted technical resource, managing incidents, supporting users, maintaining systems, and contributing to ongoing infrastructure improvements.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, can confidently work independently, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service in a high-availability environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Infrastructure Operations & Incident Management
  • Monitor critical systems and infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents across servers, networks, and applications.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
  • Assess service impacts and determine appropriate escalation and remediation paths.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams during major incidents.
  • Maintain detailed operational documentation and support procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call roster providing after-hours support when required.
System Administration & Maintenance
  • Manage Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and security patching activities.
  • Administer backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor system health and proactively address risks before they impact operations.
  • Support infrastructure improvements and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate configuration and asset records.
End User & IT Service Delivery
  • Deliver high-quality technical support through service requests and incident tickets.
  • Provision and manage user accounts, permissions, devices, and applications.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for employees.
  • Coordinate hardware deployments, software installations, and licensing activities.
  • Create user guides, technical knowledge articles, and support documentation.
  • Provide guidance and training to users on technology tools and best practices.
What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years' experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure Support, Systems Administration, or a similar role.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing concepts.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms.
  • Familiarity with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or similar.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and endpoint management technologies.
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment where service availability is critical.
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience with automation or scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • ITIL knowledge or relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience supporting regulated, high-availability, or enterprise-scale environments.
  • Security-focused mindset with experience supporting compliance and patch management initiatives.
