About the Role
Emanate Technology is working with a rapidly growing software, electronics and precision‑technology company developing next‑generation terrestrial and space‑related products. This role sits within a multidisciplinary engineering environment where you’ll work across complex hardware, embedded systems, optics/lasers and advanced measurement technologies.
You’ll join a maturing systems engineering function and play a key role in shaping how new products are defined, built, tested and transitioned into production.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Apply systems engineering principles across the full lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Help establish new “next‑gen” products, including advanced timing and quantum systems.
- Develop and manage requirements with verification and validation in mind.
- Support system architecture, interface definition and integration across hardware, firmware and software.
- Work hands‑on with complex hardware, supporting testing and performance analysis.
- Produce clear documentation, interface control documents, BOMs and configuration baselines.
- Contribute to manufacturability and smooth handover to production.
- Lead and support design reviews, trade studies and technology selection.
- Help improve systems engineering processes across the organisation.
- Collaborate with physics, electronics, mechanical, software and production teams.
- Complex electronics, optics/lasers, photonics and space‑suitable products.
- Embedded/firmware and low‑level software.
- Requirements management tools (e.g., Flow Engineering).
- PLM/PDM, configuration and document management systems.
- Structured engineering workflows — training provided where needed.
- Electrical engineering, mechatronics, or software engineering with embedded/firmware/hardware‑adjacent experience.
- Experience with physical products, electronics, IoT or embedded systems.
- Comfortable with requirements, V&V and system‑level thinking.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Pure web‑only software backgrounds with no hardware or embedded exposure.
- Space systems or other regulated domains.
- Awareness of relevant engineering standards.
- Interest in project management or cost‑aware design.
- Physics/lasers/photonics experience.
- Friendly, respectful and collaborative environment.
- Family‑friendly culture with genuine flexibility.
- Typical hours around 9–5; TOIL available for deadline periods.
- On‑site role with ~1 day per week WFH.
- Based in Adelaide CBD (on‑site).
- Full Australian working rights required.
- Minimal travel; occasional support for trials by senior engineers.
- Exceptional overseas candidates with highly relevant experience
