About the Role
This is a client-facing Systems Engineer position supporting small to mid-sized businesses across SA. You'll be responsible for managing technical issues, delivering IT infrastructure projects, and providing proactive support both remotely and onsite. The role blends helpdesk escalation support with hands-on project delivery across Microsoft, networking, backup, and security environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 technical support across servers, cloud, networking, and desktop environments.
- Manage ticket queues and prioritise issues according to client SLAs.
- Implement and troubleshoot infrastructure components (servers, networks, backups, firewalls, cloud services).
- Contribute to IT projects, including cloud migrations, hardware rollouts, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Support client relationship managers by providing technical insight and solution delivery.
- Attend client sites for support and project work as needed.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with internal quality standards and cybersecurity practices.
Ideal Skills & Experience
- 2–4+ years' experience in a Systems/Infrastructure Engineer role within an MSP or similar environment.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft ecosystems (Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Azure, Entra ID).
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring, backups (Veeam), firewalls (WatchGuard or similar), and basic networking.
- Good grasp of IT security principles and zero-trust architecture.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Formal IT qualifications and/or vendor certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, WatchGuard, etc.).
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites across metro and regional SA.
