In collaboration with the Queensland State Government, Emanate Technology is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing development team delivering secure, modern software solutions in a high-compliance environment. If you're passionate about mentoring teams, driving innovation, and applying DevOps practices, this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Scoping and delivering end-to-end software solutions aligned to modern engineering standards
  • Leading and mentoring a team of software engineers to foster collaboration and innovation
  • Implementing secure coding practices and ensuring alignment with frameworks like OWASP and Essential 8
  • Driving DevOps initiatives with CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation
  • Managing delivery across the full SDLC, including agile ceremonies and architectural reviews
  • Overseeing cloud platform usage and optimising resource utilisation and cost
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to define priorities, estimates and delivery plans
  • Maintaining high-quality standards through testing protocols and regular code reviews
  • Managing risks and reporting on technical progress to stakeholders

What you need to bring
  • Proven experience delivering complex software projects in a leadership role (3+ years in management)
  • Demonstrated background in full-stack development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and SQL
  • Strong track record managing software delivery in highly regulated environments (5+ years)
  • Solid experience with DevOps tooling and cloud services (AWS and/or Azure)
  • History of applying secure development practices and managing software compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with multiple SDLC methodologies and agile delivery environments
  • Strength in stakeholder engagement, problem solving, and risk mitigation

  • Background in delivering measurable cost efficiencies through optimised cloud usage
  • Success leading the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with applying secure coding standards across diverse development teams
  • Track record in mentoring software engineers and fostering professional growth
  • Experience supporting architectural decisions and modernising tech stacks
  • Capability in preparing concise technical documentation and progress reports for stakeholders
