A large enterprise environment is seeking a hands‑on Server SOE Engineer to design, build and validate a Windows Server 2025 Standard Operating Environment (SOE). This role suits a practical engineer who can move comfortably between design, build, testing and documentation, while working closely with infrastructure, security and operational teams.
About the Role
You will be responsible for developing a secure, supportable and fully documented Server 2025 SOE. This includes image creation, technical design, testing, hardening and ensuring the solution meets organisational, security and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement security hardening and configuration baselines for the Server 2025 SOE.
- Develop, maintain and validate the Server 2025 image to agreed specifications.
- Produce comprehensive technical design, build and ABAC documentation.
- Design and build a Windows Server 2025 SOE aligned to organisational and security requirements.
- Execute technical testing activities and ensure quality outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations throughout the design, build and testing lifecycle.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security and operational teams to support delivery and transition into BAU.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands‑on experience building, configuring and deploying Windows Server operating environments.
- Demonstrated background designing and implementing Windows Server SOEs in enterprise environments.
- Solid Active Directory and Group Policy administration capability.
- Proven ability to produce clear technical design and implementation documentation.
- Experience working across multiple technical teams and stakeholder groups.
- Exposure to Federal Government or other highly regulated ICT environments.
Desirable:
- Experience implementing and validating CIS Benchmarks.
- Familiarity with automation, scripting and modern deployment technologies.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications.
- Experience applying the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Background in server hardening, compliance and operational readiness activities.
