A large enterprise environment is seeking a hands‑on Server SOE Engineer to design, build and validate a Windows Server 2025 Standard Operating Environment (SOE). This role suits a practical engineer who can move comfortably between design, build, testing and documentation, while working closely with infrastructure, security and operational teams.

About the Role

You will be responsible for developing a secure, supportable and fully documented Server 2025 SOE. This includes image creation, technical design, testing, hardening and ensuring the solution meets organisational, security and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Implement security hardening and configuration baselines for the Server 2025 SOE.
  • Develop, maintain and validate the Server 2025 image to agreed specifications.
  • Produce comprehensive technical design, build and ABAC documentation.
  • Design and build a Windows Server 2025 SOE aligned to organisational and security requirements.
  • Execute technical testing activities and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations throughout the design, build and testing lifecycle.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, security and operational teams to support delivery and transition into BAU.

Essential Skills & Experience: 
  • Strong hands‑on experience building, configuring and deploying Windows Server operating environments.
  • Demonstrated background designing and implementing Windows Server SOEs in enterprise environments.
  • Solid Active Directory and Group Policy administration capability.
  • Proven ability to produce clear technical design and implementation documentation.
  • Experience working across multiple technical teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Exposure to Federal Government or other highly regulated ICT environments.

Desirable: 
  • Experience implementing and validating CIS Benchmarks.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting and modern deployment technologies.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience applying the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Background in server hardening, compliance and operational readiness activities.
