Senior Systems Administrator

🔧 Role Overview
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you’ll provide advanced administration across complex physical and virtual server environments. You’ll play a key role in maintaining system performance, implementing security protocols, driving automation, and ensuring overall infrastructure reliability.
 
✨ Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain complex IT systems (Windows, virtual/physical environments)
• Implement and manage security controls in line with Government protocols
• Monitor systems for performance and reliability, proactively resolving issues
• Provide high-level technical support and troubleshoot infrastructure-related problems
• Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline system management (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
• Manage backup and disaster recovery processes
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary IT teams and mentor junior staff
• Maintain system documentation and produce detailed performance reports
• Ensure compliance with Australian Government IT and cybersecurity frameworks

• Extensive experience in systems administration at an advanced level (SFIA Level 5 or above)
• Deep knowledge of Windows Desktop environments
• Previous experience in Government or regulated environments highly regarded
• Familiarity with containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience using automation/configuration tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, or Python)

• Initial Term: 12 months
• Extension Options: 2 x 12-month extensions
• Work Location: On-site in Barton, ACT
• Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain NV2 clearance
