I’m currently working with a leading delivery partner supporting Australia’s defence and national security sector, and we’re looking to bring in a Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator to join a long-term, mission-critical program.
This is a genuinely strong opportunity for someone who wants to operate in a secure, high-impact environment, working on enterprise-scale cloud platforms that directly support defence capability.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the ongoing support, stability, and uplift of RHEL environments hosted in Azure, with a strong focus on automation, resilience, and security compliance.
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:
- Manage and maintain RHEL environments across production and non-production
- Drive automation through Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite
- Ensure system performance, availability, and patch compliance using Azure-native tooling
- Troubleshoot L2/L3 infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and networking
- Work closely with service desk and change teams in line with ITIL processes
- Support monitoring and observability via Azure Monitor and Dynatrace
- Contribute to backup, recovery, and DR validation activities
- Maintain documentation within a controlled, security-focused environment
- Mentor junior Admins and Engineers
I’m keen to speak with engineers who are comfortable operating in structured, highly regulated environments, and who bring a strong mix of Linux, cloud, and automation expertise.
Key experience:
- Strong background in RHEL administration
- Hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite
- Proven experience working in Microsoft Azure (IaaS) environments
- Solid scripting and automation skills (with Git/version control)
- Experience supporting both Linux and Windows Server VMs
- Strong troubleshooting capability across infrastructure and OS layers
- Experience with Defence and National Security work or Similar
- Azure certifications (Admin / DevOps)
- Red Hat certifications (RHCSA or similar)
- Exposure to Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code
- Previous experience in Defence or Government environments
- Active AGSVA NV1 Clearance
- Australian Citizenship
- Work on genuinely mission-critical defence systems
