Role Overview
The Senior Network Engineer will provide specialist network engineering services across the full lifecycle of network design, deployment, security implementation, and operational management. The role supports secure, enterprise-grade environments and requires strong hands-on capability across networking, virtualization, and platform technologies.
This position will contribute to both project delivery and operational support, ensuring network infrastructure meets performance, security, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed network designs, supporting documentation, and oversee physical deployment activities
- Configure and manage switches, routers, and firewalls within secure environments
- Manage servers, workstations, and edge devices across enterprise networks
- Implement network hardening and security controls in accordance with cybersecurity frameworks (including ISM requirements)
- Conduct network testing, validation, and performance assessments
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, including packet capture analysis and root cause investigation
- Support DevOps and Platform Engineering activities where required
- Mentor and upskill team members on deployed network architecture and best practices
- Maintain compliance with security, operational, and documentation standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years’ relevant experience in network engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience deploying networking hardware and infrastructure
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking principles and design
- Experience with:
- VMware NSX
- Cilium
- Cisco networking technologies
- Solid Linux experience (RHEL preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- BGP
- Policy-Based Routing
- Multicast
- Traffic shaping and QoS
- Experience implementing network security controls and hardening standards
- Proven troubleshooting capability including packet capture analysis
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Advanced Windows configuration and management knowledge
- Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Exposure to automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code practices
