My client is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Electronics Engineer
to lead the development of cutting-edge hardware systems for high-fidelity military vehicle driver simulation. This is a senior technical leadership role, responsible for delivering innovative and reliable electronics solutions—including driver cabin instrumentation, custom PCBs, and system-level electrical architecture. As the Senior Electronics Engineer, you will guide a team of engineers and technicians, ensure high-quality hardware outcomes, and play a critical role in shaping the next generation of their Reconfigurable Driver Simulator (RDS)
platform.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & System Design
- Lead and mentor a team of electronics engineers and technicians.
- Design and document system-level electrical architectures for the RDS and its sub-systems.
- Develop reusable and modular electrical designs aligned with project and platform requirements.
- Oversee schematic design, PCB layout (using Altium), fabrication, and integration testing of custom driver instrument panels.
- Develop system, sub-system, and component-level specifications aligned with systems engineering practices.
- Design, simulate, and test electronic systems including power distribution, digital/analog circuitry, and communication interfaces.
- Create cabling designs for AC/DC power, signal, and control systems.
- Select components optimised for performance, cost, reliability, and availability.
- Ensure EMI/EMC compliance and apply best practices for PCB layout and cable management.
- Drive design for manufacturability, testability, and maintainability.
- Develop both manual and automated test systems for validating electronic hardware.
- Create clear and accurate BOMs and technical documentation to support manufacturing and quality assurance.
- Support prototyping, testing, production rollout, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
- Assist with transitioning new designs to production and maintaining legacy systems.
- Participate in customer site visits to survey vehicles for future simulator cabin replications.
- Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams including RF, mechanical, and production engineers.
- Contribute to the development of proprietary technology, IP, and innovative design solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in electronic hardware design and development
- Proficiency in PCB design and layout using Altium
- Solid experience in digital and analog circuit design
- Strong understanding of EMI/EMC design practices
- Experience with microcontroller-based systems and safety-critical hardware
- Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, RS-485, TCP/UDP)
- Demonstrated ability to lead hardware projects from concept to production
- Knowledge of relevant Australian and international electronics standards
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages
- Proficiency in C++ or embedded software development
- Familiarity with defence or simulation technologies
- Deliver compliant, high-quality hardware designs that meet scope and customer requirements
- Advance in-house PCB prototyping and electronic production capabilities
- Build internal capabilities toward a mature, production-ready hardware engineering function
- Provide accurate design effort estimations and maintain engineering metrics
- Report monthly on team progress and key milestones
