Job Title: eCommerce Developer / Technical Specialist

Location: Melbourne (Inner North-West / Hybrid)

Work Type: Full-time, Permanent

A recognized global brand is expanding its internal digital engineering capability in Melbourne.

Working in close partnership with the Digital Applications Manager, they are appointing an eCommerce Developer / Technical Specialist to play a key role across platform architecture, governance, and integrations. This is an ideal move for an experienced engineer keen to take on increased technical stewardship across an enterprise ecosystem and help shape long-term engineering strategy.

If you bring a strong background in eCommerce development across platforms like Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce (Magento), BigCommerce, or headless setups, your skills will translate directly.

The production environment runs on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC). An understanding of the SFCC ecosystem is a welcome bonus, but it is not mandatory. Provided your broader commerce engineering and integration fundamentals are sound, they are completely happy for you to familiarise yourself with the platform on the job.

The Role
  • Take internal technical ownership of an enterprise eCommerce platform and connected ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with the Digital Applications Manager to shape solution architecture and technical design.

  • Design and implement integrations spanning CRM, marketing automation, CMS, ERP/OMS, and Azure cloud services.

  • Establish technical governance for delivery partners through structured code reviews and quality gates.

  • Build and maintain modern integration patterns using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven approaches.

  • Own day-to-day release management, Git branching workflows, environment promotion, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Participate in technical discovery, translating commercial requirements into clean, scalable delivery plans.

What We Are Looking For
  • Strong software engineering background with solid hands-on delivery across enterprise eCommerce environments.

  • Proven technical depth across major commerce platforms such as Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce / Magento, BigCommerce, or similar. Any exposure to the SFCC ecosystem is a bonus, not a blocker.

  • Practical background in API design, webhooks, and modern integration patterns, with an appetite to take on broader architectural input.

  • Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release controls, and Git branching workflows.

  • Experience collaborating with third-party delivery partners, with the confidence to review code and discuss technical trade-offs constructively.

  • Clear, collaborative communication style with the motivation to take on greater platform ownership.

(Note: Appointment to this role is subject to a standard background check.)

Why Take This On?
  • Fully Maintained Company Vehicle: Includes a brand-new, fully maintained company car with all registration, insurance, fuel, and servicing costs covered.

  • Increased Platform Stewardship: Take on genuine architectural input and technical influence over a major ecosystem, with direct support from the Digital Applications Manager.

  • Focused In-House Roadmap: Dedicate your energy to the health, evolution, and technical direction of a single flagship enterprise platform.

  • Global Brand Recognition: Add an iconic household name to your resume while working on a major national platform.
