A major federal program is expanding its engineering capability and is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help build modern, automated delivery foundations across a large Azure environment. This role is deeply technical and focuses on creating secure, repeatable and scalable deployment pathways for both applications and infrastructure. You’ll work alongside cloud specialists, developers, architects and cyber teams to uplift delivery practices, modernise legacy systems and accelerate migration activities.
What You’ll Do
- Build and refine CI/CD pipelines that support consistent, automated releases across multiple environments.
- Use Infrastructure as Code to standardise provisioning and configuration of cloud resources.
- Integrate security controls, compliance checks and quality gates directly into delivery workflows.
- Manage branching strategies, release processes and environment lifecycle practices.
- Automate build, deployment and testing activities to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
- Track pipeline performance and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Partner with cloud, security, networking and application teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions.
- Support migration and modernisation initiatives through automation and deployment engineering.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across build, deployment and environment layers.
- Contribute to shared engineering patterns, reusable IaC modules and platform automation frameworks.
- Strong background delivering DevOps practices in enterprise or government environments.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining automated deployment pipelines.
- Hands‑on IaC experience with Bicep, Terraform, ARM or similar tooling.
- Ability to embed security and compliance controls into automated delivery processes.
- Solid understanding of cloud‑native engineering and modern operational practices.
- Experience working within Agile teams and contemporary software delivery models.
- Strong troubleshooting and automation capability, with a focus on reliability and repeatability.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
- DevOps & Automation: Azure DevOps, Git, YAML pipelines, PowerShell, Azure CLI
- IaC: Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates
- Azure Services: App Services, Storage, API Management, Azure SQL, Monitor, Log Analytics
- Security: Entra ID, Managed Identities, RBAC, Azure Policy, secure SDLC practices
- Experience in cloud migration or application modernisation programs.
- Familiarity with ASD ISM, Essential Eight and Zero Trust cloud environments.
- Background in observability, monitoring or operational engineering.
- Deployments run automatically, consistently and with minimal manual intervention.
- Security and compliance are built into every stage of the delivery process.
- Teams can ship, test and iterate quickly and safely.
- IaC patterns are standardised and reusable across the program.
- Migration and modernisation work is accelerated through automation.
- Cloud services are delivered securely, reliably and at scale.
