Overview A senior technical leader is required to guide the evolution of a modern DevOps capability supporting large‑scale digital delivery. This role focuses on strengthening automation, platform reliability, and secure engineering practices across complex build, test and release environments. The successful candidate will help shape the design, implementation and continuous uplift of an enterprise DevOps ecosystem spanning cloud and on‑premises technologies.
This position suits someone who thrives in structured delivery environments, understands the full software development lifecycle, and can translate operational and development needs into scalable, automated solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with the internal DevOps and production support teams to uplift the efficiency, resilience and security of end‑to‑end delivery pipelines.
- Contribute to the architecture, stability and ongoing optimisation of the organisation’s DevOps platform.
- Provide expert guidance on implementation approaches, best‑practice engineering, and documentation supporting strategic automation initiatives.
- Administer and enhance the organisation’s Azure DevOps environment, ensuring consistent and reliable usage across teams.
- Assist delivery teams in refining workflows, processes and tooling within Azure DevOps and related SDLC platforms.
- Manage, triage and resolve user support requests relating to DevOps tooling and processes.
- Promote scalable, maintainable DevOps practices and contribute to continuous improvement across the broader division.
- Proven capability in designing, configuring and administering enterprise DevOps platforms.
- Demonstrated experience building and maturing DevOps capability within complex organisations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and guide technical and non‑technical teams.
- Experience working within structured IT governance frameworks.
- Background supporting enterprise‑scale delivery environments across all phases of the SDLC.
- Experience contributing to mid‑to‑large programs of work within multidisciplinary IT delivery teams.
- Hands‑on experience across both development and operational functions.
- Familiarity with a broad range of DevSecOps tools such as Azure DevOps, PowerBI, Artifactory, Thycotic Secret Server and SonarQube.
- Understanding of secure IT environments and uplift activities aligned to recognised security frameworks (e.g., ISM, Essential Eight).
