Summary on the role & client:
Our client based in Brisbane CBD is looking for a Cloud Engineer to join their team. Historically, much of the cloud work has been delivered through an external MSP. They're now looking to build more capability internally, and this role will be at the centre of that.
This is a role that sits somewhere between cloud engineering, security and DevOps. It's not a pure operations role where you're working on tickets all day, Instead, you'll be hands-on across a broad range of cloud engineering activities, helping drive improvements while supporting a platform the business relies heavily on.
You'll spend your time working across AWS infrastructure, security remediation, patching, platform enhancements, integrations, release support, automation and documentation. There is a managed services provider in place handling much of the day-to-day operational support, giving you more opportunity to focus on engineering outcomes and improvement initiatives.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting and maintaining AWS-hosted infrastructure
- Managing patching, upgrades and platform maintenance activities
- Working through vulnerability remediation and security improvement initiatives
- Implementing recommendations from cyber security reviews and assessments
- Assisting with the ongoing improvement of Infrastructure as Code practices
- Supporting future improvements across DevOps tooling and engineering processes
- Strong AWS infrastructure experience across services such as EC2, networking, storage and security
- Experience supporting production cloud environments
- Good knowledge of patching, maintenance and platform lifecycle activities
- Experience identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities
- Scripting and automation experience using tools such as PowerShell, Python or similar
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
