About the Role:
My client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Application Architect
with a strong background in enterprise-level application migration and cloud-native architecture. This is a strategic role ideal for someone who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and is passionate about driving large-scale digital transformations.
You will have a consultative mindset and play a critical role in shaping the future of their application portfolio, designing target state architectures, guiding the migration of legacy systems to a modern and cloud-native environment on AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Enterprise-scale application migration initiatives to AWS
- Design and document target state architectures that align with the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Develop application blueprints to support scalable, secure, and efficient cloud deployments
- Classify application portfolios using the 6R strategy: Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire, Retain, Replace
- Guide engineering teams in decomposing monolithic applications into microservices
- Analyse large application estates to identify opportunities for modernization, rationalization, or replacement
- Recommend and implement modern tooling for architecture modeling and code quality
- Stay current with cloud-native technologies and best practices, applying them pragmatically across projects
- 15+ years in application architecture roles, with a strong emphasis on cloud-native design
- Proven experience leading large-scale application migrations to AWS
- Deep knowledge of application modernisation techniques including microservices, containerisation, and API-driven design
- Hands-on experience with key AWS services: EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch
- Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (or similar certification)
- Experience designing and implementing multi-cloud strategies
- Background in software development and DevOps practices
