About the role
We are partnering with a large Queensland Government organisation to recruit a Procurement Officer to join a busy procurement and contract management team based in Brisbane CBD. This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging procurement professional looking to build their experience across sourcing, contract management, stakeholder engagement, and government procurement processes.
Working within a collaborative team environment, you will support the delivery of procurement activities that provide value-for-money outcomes while ensuring compliance with government policies and procurement frameworks.
What you will be doing
- Provide procurement advice and support to internal stakeholders across a range of purchasing activities.
- Assist with procurement planning, market research, sourcing activities, and evaluation processes.
- Prepare procurement documentation including specifications, evaluation plans, reports, briefing notes, and correspondence.
- Coordinate and participate in tender evaluations and stakeholder meetings.
- Support contract and supplier management activities, including vendor engagement and negotiations.
- Conduct market analysis and industry research to inform procurement decisions.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure documentation is managed in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Build positive working relationships with internal clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders to support successful procurement outcomes.
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, contracts administration, commercial support, or a related function.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail, particularly when preparing or reviewing documentation.
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and procurement frameworks and apply them in a practical way.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience preparing reports, submissions, briefing notes, or procurement-related documentation.
- Previous experience working within a Queensland Government or broader public sector environment.
- Exposure to procurement and contract management frameworks.
- Experience with SAP or similar financial management systems.
- Procurement certification or equivalent qualifications aligned with Queensland Government procurement practices.
- Experience facilitating supplier engagement, market sounding activities, or tender evaluation processes.
