About the Opportunity
Our client is a trusted Defence industry partner delivering secure, mission-critical infrastructure solutions that support Australia’s national capability. they’re seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes Engineer to play a key role in the design, implementation, and sustainment of containerised platforms within secure Defence and Government environments.
This is a hands-on technical position, ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex, security-focused settings. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of systems, network, and platform engineers to deliver highly available and compliant Kubernetes environments that underpin critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and administer Kubernetes clusters in secure, accredited environments.
- Integrate containerised platforms with Linux-based systems, networking, and storage.
- Contribute to automation, hardening, and monitoring of platform services.
- Support security accreditation and compliance processes in line with Defence standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and share expertise across the broader technical team.
- Proven experience deploying and managing Kubernetes in enterprise or Defence contexts.
- Strong Linux administration background.
- Experience working within secure or classified environments.
- Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, Helm, etc.).
- Ability to document, communicate, and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Cisco networking.
- Experience with HP or NetApp compute and storage platforms.
- Exposure to Ansible or Terraform for automation and configuration management.
- Familiarity with Defence security frameworks and accreditation processes.
- Kubernetes Certification (CKA, CKAD, CKS)
