We are partnering with a major technology organisation supporting critical national capability programs and are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to take ownership of the support and sustainment of a bespoke secure infrastructure environment.
This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering responsibility. You’ll be leading platform support activities across a modern VMware and Hyper Converged Infrastructure environment while acting as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, lifecycle activities and operational optimisation initiatives.
This is the ideal role for someone who enjoys deep technical work but also wants to influence engineering direction, operational maturity and platform performance within a mission-critical environment.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll lead the support and sustainment of a secure HCI platform environment leveraging VMware and Dell EMC technologies across complex enterprise systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading support and sustainment activities across secure VMware-based HCI environments
- Managing Dell EMC compute and storage infrastructure
- VMware Cloud Foundation and SDDC lifecycle management
- Infrastructure patching, upgrades and Evergreen activities
- Supporting middleware, platform and virtual infrastructure services
- Providing SME support for complex technical incidents and high priority issues
- Working across Windows Server and RHEL environments
- Driving automation and operational efficiency initiatives
- Producing and maintaining technical and architectural documentation
- Collaborating with engineering, project and operational stakeholders
- Occasional on-site support and travel as required
You’ll work across a modern enterprise technology stack including:
- VMware
- VMware Cloud Foundation
- Dell EMC
- Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI)
- Apache NiFi
- Windows Server
- RHEL / Linux
- MS SQL, PostgreSQL & MongoDB
- Infrastructure automation tooling
We’re looking for a technically strong infrastructure professional who can combine hands-on engineering capability with leadership and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Extensive VMware and HCI infrastructure experience
- Strong Dell EMC platform knowledge
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and SDDC lifecycle activities
- Advanced troubleshooting capability across enterprise infrastructure
- Experience supporting secure or Defence-aligned environments
- Strong documentation and operational process skills
- Ability to lead technical outcomes within complex environments
- Exposure to automation and infrastructure optimisation initiatives
