About the Role
Consunet is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to deliver on modern Application and Network architectures for the Australian Defence Industry.
This is a newly created role within the business and a rare opportunity to step into an established Defence program and take ownership of the infrastructure design function.
Your initial primary focus will be to run and maintain existing IT infrastructure designs, ensuring large, complex Defence environments continue to operate smoothly, securely and in alignment with architectural standards. This is not a greenfield architecture role; instead, you’ll be the steady, detail‑driven specialist who keeps critical design artefacts accurate, integrated and dependable across multiple environments.
As the role grows, you’ll also have the opportunity to shape how Consunet delivers infrastructure design for future Defence projects, influencing processes, standards and capability development.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintaining and updating HLDs, SEDs and engineering documentation
- Ensuring large, complex Defence infrastructure designs remain accurate and operational
- Adapting documentation for multiple Defence environments
- Creating and maintaining technical diagrams and architectural drawings
- Integrating designs with broader Defence architecture and engineering teams
- Working closely with SMEs to validate and refine design artefacts
- Helping establish and grow Consunet’s infrastructure design function for future client work.
Mandatory
- Current NV1 clearance
- Defence IT landscape & project experience
- Background in infrastructure architecture or infrastructure engineering
- Strong documentation and diagramming capability
- Experience with low‑side cloud environments
- modern application architectures.
- OpenShift, Redhat, Kubernetes.
- Hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- DevSecOps & Containerised environments
- Familiarity with Defence architecture frameworks and standards
- Blended Onsite in S.A Northern suburbs & Adelaide CBD office
- 2 days WFH each week (subject to project/security requirements)
