Fibre Cabling Specialists (x2) – ICT Modernisation Project

Emanate Technology is working with a leading government organisation who are seeking up to two experienced Fibre Cabling Specialists to support the global upgrade of legacy fibre infrastructure at international sites. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in a high-impact, international technology modernisation initiative.

About the Role


Based in Canberra, these roles will support the planning, procurement, and delivery of essential fibre infrastructure upgrades at locations worldwide. The successful candidates will contribute to the design, installation, maintenance, and documentation of modern fibre optic cabling systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain fibre optic cabling systems, including reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Perform splicing, testing, and certification of fibre optic cables to industry standards.
  • Identify and resolve faults using fibre testing methods and network schematics.
  • Complete handover documentation and job photo records with attention to detail.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and liaise professionally with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Support technical leads and project managers with planning and implementation.
  • Maintain all required licences, certifications, and technical endorsements.
  • Comply with professional conduct standards and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
  • Complete mandatory WHS training as needed (e.g., working at heights, confined spaces).
  • Be available and prepared for international travel, occasionally on short notice.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have:
  • Proven experience in the installation, splicing, testing, and fault-finding of fibre optic networks.
  • Familiarity with fibre testing tools and certification processes.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant and current industry certifications and licences.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Willingness and capability to travel internationally.
 
Technical skills
  • Cabling licence with Open Registration with Structured, Optical Fibre & Coaxial Endorsements, and Structured Cabling (Cat 5, 6 and Beyond – CPR Endorsement), Coaxial Cabling Endorsement, Optical Fibre Cabling (CPR Endorsement).
