Permanent Opportunity | Sydney | NV2 Clearance Mandatory
A leading organisation delivering critical Defence ICT capabilities is seeking a Data Specialist to support data governance, management, and strategic data operations within a complex enterprise environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring data is effectively managed, compliant, and aligned to Defence data strategies, while enabling informed decision-making and long-term capability outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and ongoing operation of data governance frameworks and policies.
  • Coordinate data access, custodianship, and compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance across data management activities, working with SMEs and vendors.
  • Monitor, report, and improve compliance with data standards, retention policies, and access controls.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and manage varying priorities across complex environments.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum active NV2 Clearance 
  • Strong experience across enterprise infrastructure (Windows, Linux/Unix, compute platforms).
  • ITIL v3/v4 certified with service operations experience.
  • Proven experience in large-scale data and processing environments.
  • Experience within Defence or Government ICT environments.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, compliance, and retention frameworks.
  • Exposure to enterprise data tools and technologies (e.g. NiFi, storage, data pipelines).
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and coordinate SMEs, vendors, and support teams in fast-paced environments.
