Seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing project team delivering a critical ERP migration for a leading Australian retailer. This role will play a key part in the modernisation and refactoring of an enterprise data warehouse built on Snowflake and dbt, ensuring the successful transition of reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities throughout the migration program.You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to redesign data models, optimise transformations, improve data quality, and deliver trusted data products that support ongoing business operations and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Refactor and optimise the existing Snowflake data warehouse architecture, including staging, integration, mart, and semantic layers
- Redesign dbt models to improve maintainability, scalability, performance, and governance.
- Establish and apply engineering best practices across data modelling, testing, documentation, and deployment.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code refactoring, testing, and quality assurance activities.
- Optimise Snowflake warehouse configuration, compute consumption, and query performance to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement robust data quality frameworks, validation processes, and automated testing aligned to business rules.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including SQL optimisation, warehouse tuning, RBAC, workload management, and cost optimisation.
- Advanced experience with dbt, including macros, packages, testing frameworks, exposures, modular modelling, and CI/CD integration.
- Expert-level SQL development skills across complex transformation and integration workloads.
- Experience supporting Tableau through the development and optimisation of data sources, semantic layers, and extracts.
- Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable enterprise data solutions.
