We’re partnering with a major Federal Government agency to secure an experienced Cloud Engineer to support a large-scale cloud modernisation program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys solving technical challenges, and wants to be part of a long-term transformation journey.
You'll join a collaborative, high-performing cloud team working to design, implement, and migrate containerised workloads from on-prem to AWS. You’ll also help uplift cloud governance, automation, and security practices across the organisation.
This is a full-time contract (40hrs/week) commencing ASAP through to June 2026, with strong potential for extension.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable and highly available cloud solutions.
- Building and managing AWS Organisations, Landing Zones, Control Tower and related services.
- Delivering IaaS compute workloads, container platforms, serverless resources, storage solutions, and monitoring/security services.
- Automating cloud provisioning and deployments through scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
- Providing technical guidance to architects, developers, and project teams on cloud best practice.
- Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and uplift of cloud capability across the agency.
- Strong practical experience across AWS Cloud services, governance and security.
- Working knowledge of Azure cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with Landing Zones, Control Tower, SCPs, and cloud governance frameworks.
- Proven capability in automating cloud deployments (IaC), scripting (Python, HCL), and config languages (YAML/JSON).
- Experience deploying cloud-native applications and hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Solid understanding of cloud network, compute, and storage configurations.
- Knowledge of secure cloud design principles and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Experience preparing for compliance and audit activities.
- Professional certifications in AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience implementing cloud tagging/naming standards and governance controls.
- Familiarity with Azure Policy, AWS Control Tower governance, and SCP management.
- Exposure to observability tools (e.g. Dynatrace).
- Highly self-motivated with strong ownership and delivery focus.
- Strong analytical, research, and solution design capabilities.
- Able to provide clear technical advice on complex matters.
- Effective stakeholder engagement across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong appreciation for version control, QA, repeatability, and deployment rigour.
- Experience working in Agile and cross-functional environments.
