An established Canberra-based consulting firm is seeking a Business Development Support Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting its sales and growth function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of business development, proposals, and government procurement within a professional services environment.
Working closely with senior leadership and General Managers, you’ll help streamline sales operations, coordinate opportunities, and support high-quality submissions across Federal and State Government clients. This role suits a proactive, detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
The Role You’ll act as the engine room of the sales function, ensuring opportunities are tracked, qualified, and progressed efficiently while maintaining strong governance across tools, processes, and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Tracking and managing sales opportunities, panel approaches, and panel refreshes
- Coordinating opportunity qualification with General Managers and leadership
- Supporting the development, coordination, and submission of sales proposals
- Maintaining sales collateral, case studies, standard responses, and lessons learned
- Managing a central sales mailbox and allocating opportunities for assessment
- Administering and improving Salesforce opportunity and qualification processes
- Monitoring sales trends, market intelligence, and procurement pipelines
- Supporting task management and engagement across the sales team
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar role within consulting or a corporate environment
- Exposure to Shipley proposal methodologies
- Hands-on experience with AusTender and government procurement portals
- Understanding of Federal and State Government procurement and panel arrangements
- Experience submitting tenders and managing “above and below the line” work
- Strong Salesforce experience across leads, opportunities, and CRM processes
- SharePoint site management experience
- Advanced skills across Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
