We are partnering with a well-regarded, Canberra-based business that delivers secure and scalable cloud solutions into the federal government sector. They are currently seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect
to join their high-performing team and take the lead on cloud transformation and modernisation programs across multiple agencies.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned architect who thrives on translating business needs into scalable, secure Azure and Microsoft 365-based solutions, and who enjoys working across complex, high-impact environments.
About the Role
As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of Azure cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 services. You’ll guide cloud strategy, contribute to technical roadmaps, and ensure best practice adoption across security, automation, and governance for government clients.
Working alongside delivery teams, you’ll provide architectural leadership across projects involving cloud migration, uplift of security postures, and ongoing optimisation of environments aligned with government compliance requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the design and deployment of Azure cloud solutions with an emphasis on M365 capabilities
- Architect cloud migration, modernisation, and security uplift programs for government clients
- Translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and supportable cloud architectures
- Implement best practice frameworks for Azure governance, cost management, and compliance (including ISM, PSPF)
- Provide architectural oversight, mentoring, and leadership to engineers and consultants
- Stay current with evolving Azure/M365 technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
- Produce clear architectural documentation including diagrams, roadmaps, and solution briefs
- Demonstrated experience as a Cloud or Solutions Architect with a strong Azure and M365 focus
- Deep understanding of Azure IaaS/PaaS services, networking, identity, and governance
- Experience with M365 security and compliance capabilities (e.g. Purview, Defender, Intune, etc.)
- Strong automation/scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bicep, ARM, or Terraform)
- Solid grasp of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g. AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert; M365 certifications desirable)
- Experience working with or within federal government highly regarded
