Emanate Technology is supporting a Federal Government agency in their search for an AI Engineer to join a growing team focused on delivering practical AI solutions across the organisation.

This role will see you working at the intersection of AI, software engineering, and automation. You'll help design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications that improve business processes, productivity, and decision-making while ensuring solutions meet security, governance, and compliance requirements.

Working alongside architects, cyber security specialists, data professionals, and business stakeholders, you'll take ideas from concept through to production and help shape how AI is adopted across the department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and deploy AI solutions using Azure AI and Microsoft technologies.
  • Develop AI agents, RAG solutions, workflow automation, and intelligent applications.
  • Create user-friendly front-end experiences that drive adoption and business value.
  • Develop APIs and integrations that connect AI capabilities with internal systems and data sources.
  • Build data ingestion, vector search, and document processing solutions.
  • Test and evaluate AI solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance.
  • Support AI governance activities, including model evaluation, explainability, bias testing, and security assessments.
  • Implement security, privacy, and governance controls in line with departmental requirements.
  • Work with business areas to identify opportunities where AI can improve processes and outcomes.
  • Produce technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Strong development experience in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience building AI solutions using Azure OpenAI and related Azure services.
  • Knowledge of RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and AI agents.
  • Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, Microsoft Agent Framework, or similar.
  • Experience developing APIs and backend services using FastAPI, .NET, or Node.js.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and data sources.
  • Understanding of AI testing, evaluation, and governance practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across technical and business teams.
Highly Regarded
  • Experience delivering AI solutions in Government or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI principles and governance frameworks.
  • Experience with prompt injection testing, adversarial testing, or AI security assessments.
  • Familiarity with Azure AI Search, Document Intelligence, and other Azure AI services.
