Joel Hides

Joel is the Founder and CEO of Emanate Technology and e2 Cyber. Wearing a number of hats he’s constantly collaborating with the team to define strategy and ensure its execution. Joel brings an innate entrepreneurial flair to the business, keeping the place progressive in its thinking of what’s possible, whilst not becoming ‘too corporate’. He’s a career recruiter, has ran successful desks, and believes that recruitment is a specialist craft that everyone in the business must strive to master. He will quite regularly be coaching consultants on the best way of approach one of the many situations that arise daily in the job. 

Originally from country NSW, Joel completed his studies at the University of Canberra before commencing his tech recruitment career in 1999, during the pandemonium of Y2K, where good testers were like gold and when .Net was Visual Basic. Throughout this now quarter of a century, he’s emersed himself in the tech industry, recruiting in major tech hubs like Seattle (home of Microsoft & Amazon), San Francisco (Silicon Valley) and Singapore (Asia’s FS Tech centre), along with many years in all corners of the Australian market. This experience positioned him well to found the Emanate Technology business in Canberra in 2016. 

Joel loves recruitment and is keenly passionate about continually building Emanate Technology’s brand and reputation for quality of delivery and ease of doing business. The skills and expertise he’s developed throughout his global career uniquely place him as someone that is sort after for career advice and perspective on the market. He greatly believes in the value of a great hire for a business, and conversely the impact a career decision can have on an individual’s future. His proactive and consultative approach, is well received by clients and candidates alike, whether it be advice on how to attract and retain top tier technology talent, or discussions around the market and career opportunities 

 

Mostly relaxed, sometimes frantic, Joel is always up for a chat about anything sports related. His friends and family would consider his loyal support of the Golden State Warriors and the South Sydney Rabbitohs to be bordering on some sort of weird obsession, but he’s quite ok with that. On weekends he’s typically working his second job as a kids taxi driver and sitting on hard seats in basketball stadiums across South-East Queensland. He’s very happy when he’s enjoying time with his beautiful wife and two amazing children.
